why does everyone want to be irish

why does everyone want to be Irish? I'm just curious to why people seem to jump to be Irish. For a while they were labeled terrorists. I don't have any Irish roots probably becasue my family came from Israel. I know they had one or two bad times but hasn't every country

Lend me your thoughts on this subject, thank you for any input.

The same reason someone would want to be American, British or Icelandic. The world used to be big place and countries seemed like a long distance away. But today the world is smaller and people can go anywhere they want. I think the whole Irish scenario was fueled by the fact that the world was a bigger place. I don't hear much people saying that they want to be Irish these days only on Patrick's day. Everyone is Irish that day I am 25% Irish and 25% Russian and 50% American and 100% earthling

Exactly Laura that is true. But we do have certain charity and helpfulness in our ways but so do most people in the world. The people themselves can come in many different varieties but we all share stubbornness and a high self esteem of ourselves, we don't like the word no.

Many countries have faced a famine or had injustice thrown in there face as we had. Britain but us through hell back in the day of the famine and it is true, what comes around goes around. But that was the past and our trouble with the British is over, so we can live in peace with one another. But i often see hate, to this day, directed towards the Irish from the English and like wise from the Irish to the English. I guess some people haven't learned and would rather be a rod in the cog wheel.

Our economy was built on a lie, and our political party's are a bunch of donkeys who have not strayed from the old path. Basically in Ireland we have 4 main political parties:

Fina Fael (currently in government) -- There ok for now, but there donkeys in the long run and are out to make themselves rich

Fina Gael -- Big time Donkeys that are only interested in getting themselves rich, if they ever get into government they will single handily bring us back to the stone age.

Labour -- Good work ethic but thats all, there donkeys too

Green Party (currently in government) -- I agreed with some of the stuff they came out with before they entered government but they turned out be broken promises.

Currently our government would rather spend money on the prison system and making the murders, rapists and pedophiles as comfortable as possible,whilst on the other hand they leave our mental institutions dormant for many years and would rather see the alternative minded live in there own piss with crap accommodation and to basically help them move deeper into insanity.

So really we have no good political party in Ireland, and i hope that George Lee makes his own party for the sake of our future. As it stands you don't have to have an average IQ to get into any political party, all you got to do is fix a pot hole or coach the local football team and having a spud belly would increase your chances. Flawless system, as some idiots who have become politicians would call it. I know this isn't the correct forum to be talking of such things but i like to give my opinion.
