No man can serve two masters; for either he will hate the one and love the other, or else he will stand by the one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and mammon.

No being in the world is eternal therefore; death is a process that everyone needs to pass through. A human being lives for whatever life he is allowed to stay on this planet and then moves on to the next world. Life after death is an interesting subject to people from every faith.
The concept of life after death is more or less the same in every faith, everyone who has been doing well in this life will be rewarded with a peaceful, luxurious life in the life hereafter while those who have been evildoers will be punished for their sins. Every faith has distinct ways of dealing with the death bodies at the first place. Christians place the death bodies into coffins and bury them under the ground in special places called graveyards facing towards Jerusalem. Muslims wrap the dead bodies into plain white cloth and bury them in their graveyards with graves facing towards Mecca. Hindus cremate there dead bodies and the remains are immersed into Ganges. Zoroastrians consider bodies to be impure so they present the bodies to vultures.
Life after death to Christianity and Islam is same in many aspects. Both believe in the existence of a hell and a heaven. Hell is for people who have been the evildoers on the planet and have caused pain and discomfort to people around them. They have also not followed the teachings that came from God. Hell is consistent of fire and other related things to cause pain and irony to these evildoers as a punishment to what they have been doing on the earth. Heaven is a place completely opposite to that of the hell with lush meadows, extravagant food and luxuries of no match. Everyone, who had been doing good deeds on the earth will be rewarded with heaven in the life hereafter and the person is going to enjoy literally every lavishness that one could even imagine of.
Life after death in Hindus is way too different. Hindus believe in rebirth and the process of death is nothing but a passage to the next life termed as reincarnation. The concepts tell that one can go through two ways after death, the sun way or the enlightened way and the moon way or the dark way. Who ever went through the sun way would be eternal and wouldn’t come back to the earth instead would serve special tasks on Gods behalf. The one who will follow the moon’s path will come back to the earth in some other form. This way the process keeps on going on and never ends.
Most interesting of all is the Zoastrians belief of life after death. After death, the soul rests on earth for three days. The good ones have their soul rest at the head of their body while the evildoers have their souls on the corpse of their bodies. After three days, the souls move downwards towards the kingdom of death. Afterwards the deeds are weighed and on the scale of comparison, the souls move towards paradise of hell.
In a nutshell, different faiths have different beliefs about the life hereafter. Something that is common to all of them is that this life here at earth is not eternal neither absolute instead this is just a test of ones submission to the will of God. Whoever doing good here will be rewarded with the best of all rewards while who ever who have been doing evil, will be punished in the life hereafter. |
