The gaming age dawned with Pong, and then came the spectrum that played cassettes. Nintendo and Sega introduced gaming to the Cartridge. People were introduced to innocent characters such as Sonic and Mario. Two to three years later the word 3D was on the lips of people, what was 3D? Play station and N64 had the answer. Young people were left in awe at the so-called realism of the gaming world. Classics such as Final Fantasy and Golden Eye graced our Tv screens and many people spent days and nights having exciting multi-player battles with their family or exploring the vastness of a new world.
Since then, games have come somewhat more violent and gory. Gamers now look for the graphic effects, like popping some ones head with a sniper rife or blowing the crap out of a body with C4. They want the full blood guts and brains to be shown. This is kind of disturbing to be honest as we are satisfying the killer instinct within us all with games such as Manhunt, GTA, Farcry, Assassins Creed…etc and the more real it gets the more we will become the killer.
All of these Blood drenched games come with an 18+ symbol smacked on the box but that doesn’t stop children as young as 10 from playing them. The parents do not bother to check there child's gaming systems because they think it is all innocence and many shops will sell these games to minors for the cash. There is no REAL system to stop this from happening.
You might say, so what if a kid buys a game like manhunt. Look at it this way our mind develops the most during your young days from year zero to 15. As kids we learn what we see and we learn what is right and what is bad. These years are crucial for a young person to develop a good mind. So you have a parent telling his/her youngster it is wrong to kill, they will agree but during the day they play a game that promotes killing and drugs. What’s this child going to think? I think he/she will be down right confused because most likely he/she will be playing that game and other games like it for most of his/her life. Personally I quiver at the thought of what the next generation will bring to the table because most of them have and are going through this type of mind bending. We need to take action on this before it is too late, YOU as a parent need to watch what your youngster is influencing him/her self with, its your DUTY to help develop your children in the best way that is possible and for the good of the human race.
