2012 Phenomenon

Man is a curious animal, don’t you think so? If you take a look back into the history you will find that most of the scientific technologies that you see around us are more or less the results of man’s curiosity. It is this intrigue nature of mankind that forces him to look for better answers to his questions and this way his quest never ends because the number of questions we have never ends. Millions of people log on to the internet to find thousands of queries that they have in their mind. Currently, the 2012 phenomenon is really making waves across the globe as people are crazy to know about their death and everything related to the year 2012.

Well, many believe and now that Hollywood has come out with its very own movie named 2012, people are more inclined towards the idea of the world undergoing through some huge transformation in this predicted year. However, many other scientists and Mayan experts clearly deny the fact that anything like that will ever happen. In reality, the date 2012 is said to be the end date of the Mayan Long Count Calendar that has been going around for 5,125 years. Many believe that Mayans were the masters of time and that because there is no date after December 21, 2012, it clearly indicates that the time will cease to exist after that and the world is about to witness some huge catastrophic event. 

Even Mayans that are present today do not consider 2012 as the date when the world will end living us no choices at all. On the other hand, scientists believe that after every 2160 years there is a galactic alignment and therefore Mayans have based their calendars as per the movements of the planet. They believe that the next galactic alignment will be happening on the winter solstice in the year 2012 when the equinox will change from the Age of Pisces to the Age of Aquarius and that can bring certain changes in the rotational movement of the Earth which could be the same phenomenon that the Mayans have predicted. However, NASA has not supported this theory as they don’t believe that the change of equinox will bring such disastrous effects on Earth. Apart from these there are many other doomsday theories spread by the media that has really led to a lot of hype and sensationalism across the globe.
