One can just imagine how indecisive and inconsistent a society could be, when it places faith in the predictions of soothsayers and false prophets who foresees the world ending on December 21, 2012. Now do these doom sayers happen to be time travelers, who can look ahead at what is in store for all of us??

While for several people, it just seems to be an exciting sequel to the film "2012" and an opportunity to make some money, there are others who find the concept quite scary. It just goes to show that these people have little faith. It is beyond understanding as to how a person with religion would believe in such ridiculous stuff, based on misconstrued information. How could people believe in such weird fallacies when so many past predictions that were made a long time ago ,regarding doomsday, in fact never really occurred?

This time the ending of a single period of the Mayan calendar came to be misinterpreted as the finish of the calendar itself. The misconception of the Meso-American Long Count calendar spawned the myth that a cataclysm is destined to happen on that specific date.

There was a time when years ago someone predicted the day of judgment and religious people who desired to be saved were told to sit outside their houses to be picked up by  the Lord. Several people were so scared that they stayed outside of their homes for the full day. The sickening aspect is that many of these people ironically happened to be very devout. Such a bizarre thought should not even pollute the minds of people who believe in the Creator.

A Christian ought to know that the Bible says that there would be several fake prophets who would 'predict' something and claim that as an indication of the apocalypse. Actually, no one, neither the scientists, would be able to predict the time of apocalypse.

For a person believing in religion, it really should not matter when the world would come to an end. Regardless of it, he /she would definitely be ready to face it.
